Our Name

The universe has a purpose. It was authored by a God of Love who desired to share love with beings made in the Divine Image. The Universe is a Sacred Story of love in which we are called to participate.

Many today affirm that there is no “meta-story” to the universe: that there is no overarching truth or purpose to the cosmos or to human life in the cosmos. This idea is pervasive in education and popular culture. It is part of the theme of relativism that our last three popes have addressed. It as a crisis that the new evangelization must address head-on.

We have chosen the name Sacred Story for this institute to affirm that indeed, there is a meta-story to the universe, grounded in a God of Love. God’s purpose in creation was to share love and to invite us to love God in return and to share that love with others. We affirm that human life is Sacred and that God’s creation is holy. We are called to return to God with all our minds, hearts and all our strength. We have been created and redeemed to live life as a Sacred Story in union with Christ’s STORY, the One “through whom and for whom everything was made.”

Scripture reminds us that we have a choice. “I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live.” (Dt 30: 19) We are to choose life, and to live life as a Sacred Story.
