Mercy

God created the world through Love and for Love. MERCY is God’s response to humankind’s rejection of His Love, that Love which was our gift and inheritance. MERCY and the forgiveness of sins it enfolds, are the only hope for the salvation of the world. For God desires that all be saved, as we hear both in the book of Wisdom and John’s Gospel:

But you spare all things, because they are yours, O Ruler and Lover of souls, for your imperishable spirit is in all things! Ws 11: 26.

Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. And this is the will of the one who sent me that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him the last day.” Jn 6: 37-40
 

Lord Jesus, help us to daily accept your awesome gift of MERCY. Help us to daily offer MERCY to all those we meet, especially those who have hurt us in any way. In this, may we help reveal your Love to the world in Jesus Christ, He who is our
Creation, Presence, Memory, Mercy and Eternity.

Sing praise to the LORD, you his faithful ones,
and give thanks to his holy name.
For his anger lasts but a moment;
a lifetime, his good will.
At nightfall, weeping enters in,
but with the dawn, rejoicing.

(Psalm 30: 5-6)
