Fr. Watson’s Work on the Ignatian Examen Leading to Sacred Story Community Explored in 1998 Article

Fr. Watson’s life took a turn when he made the Thirty Day Spiritual Exercises in Northern Ireland in 1994. He details those changes, including his re-commitment to the Ignatian Examen twice-daily, in the foreword to the second edition of Inviting God Into Your Life.

Upon returning to Georgetown, he began exploring how the Examen could be made into a university retreat program to teach the discipline to people. This article for the Northwest Jesuits, details the beginnings of Fr. Watson’s work on pastoral implementations of this key Ignatian method.

Over a quarter a century later, Sacred Story Community is the fullest expression to date of his vision for creating the Missionary Disciples the New Evangelization needs.
