Colombian Jesuit Added to Sacred Story Institute Board

SEATTLE, WA. – Reverend Juan Manuel Montoya Parra, S.J. received unanimous approval Monday from the president and directors of Sacred Story Institute to join the institution’s board of directors.

Fr. Parra (“Juma”) is a Colombian Jesuit and currently president of the prestigious Colegio Mayor de San Bartolome, a Jesuit High School in the city of Bogota (the second oldest Jesuit school in Latin America, founded in 1604).

Parra succeeds Fr. Hermann Rodriguez, S.J.

“I have known Juma for nearly 20 years,” said Father Bill Watson, president of SSI. “Hermann Rodriguez and I agree that Juma would be an excellent SSI board member. I also thank Hermann for his years of fruitful service.”

Parra joined the Society of Jesus in 1999. He studied Philosophy at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá. He received his M.Div. from the University of Santa Clara and a master’s degree in education from the University of San Francisco, CA (USF). Since joining the Society of Jesus, Parra has been involved in the secondary educational apostolate. Previously, he was head of Campus Ministry at Berchmans Jesuit High School in the city of Cali. Prior to that, Principal at San José Jesuit High School in the city of Barranquilla.
