Week 12 Prayer Exercises
In addition to this week’s prayer materials, there are Encouragements and Wisdom (PDF).
1 I will select my 15-minute quiet times for the week ahead and visualize where I will go each day and at what times. I continue to ask God for the grace to keep my times of prayer sacred and to seek a place that is technology-free. I will bring my notebook to each prayer period and commit to spending no more than 15-minutes in each formal prayer session.
2 My 15-minute quiet prayer this twelfth week, consists of one simple prayer exercise for Sunday through Saturday.
3 I will keep working on my letter, or if it is complete, I will reflect on what I have written during my prayer times. I will read and reflect with Christ as my companion and stay with my letter to Christ Jesus asking for His help and healing for my life story.
I will awaken to the present moment.
I will take each day and each exercise as it comes.
I cannot do Sacred Story better by going faster.
I will ask God to help me.
I will awaken to my spiritual nature and to the inspirations that inspire faith, hope and love.
I will awaken to the inspirations that inspire cynicism, impatience and lusts. I will wake up!
Be Not Afraid! I will not make any decisions that bend into my fears and my anxieties. They are founded on bad information and will not lead to my peace.
I will say this affirmation aloud once daily:
Your letter to Jesus may or may not be complete. Use your 15-minute prayer times this week to continue the reflection and writing process, or if complete, reflect and pray with the letter. Bring your notebook to your prayer sessions. After each session, write one sentence for what brings you the most hope as you read your letter and one sentence for what causes you the most discouragement as you read your letter.
If you have resolved to bring your letter to confession, make an appointment with a priest for Sacramental Reconciliation. Consciously commit to scheduling the appointment for some time in the next two weeks. If the priest you seek for confession is not familiar with the Forty Weeks method, explain to him what it is. Let him know that you would like to read to Christ your confession in this letter form. Tell him that you have spent twelve weeks preparing it and thank him for letting you go to confession in this manner.
