E & W reflections are additional helps for your Sacred Story prayer journey. Reflect on them at week’s beginning or outside of your 15-minute prayer periods.
“Impossible” is not a word in God’s vocabulary.
Throughout Scripture, numerous stories testify to this truth: in the end, no obstacle can stand against God’s mercy, truth, justice, peace and love. Sin, betrayal, deceit, treachery, imprisonment, slavery, captivity, injustice, barrenness, poverty, natural disasters, sickness and even death—nothing can prevent the love of God from reaching its fulfillment in our salvation.
In this month of the Holy Rosary we remember with God, all things are possible: Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God…for nothing will be impossible for God. (Lk 1: 30-31, 37).
It is of vital importance that we hold fast to this biblical faith in God’s power. We must remember that nothing is impossible for God especially when we face those situations that appear unsolvable, at least from our perspective. I think this faith in God’s triumphant love is why Pope Francis has such affection in his devotion to “Mary, the untier of knots.” God, working through Mary and many other parts of the Body of Christ, does indeed untie all knots—not matter how convoluted.
Consciously bring your most “unsolvable and impossible” situations to God. Surrender them with absolute faith and confidence that God will help you. Activate your faith ahead of time and praise God’s power and victory over these situations—your hope will increase and your spirits will be lifted up. Do not be afraid, for nothing is impossible for God!
Lord Jesus, you endured all the pains and difficulties of life to free us from the burden of sin. Thank you for your gift of presence to us. May we seek you often in the Eucharist, and recognize you in our distressed brothers and sisters, so that one day we may all praise you in
Creation, Presence, Memory, Mercy and Eternity.
(Psalm 121: 5-6)
