The Affirmations

I will use my time wisely and ask God to help me
understand the source of my sins and failings.

Merriam-Webster defines “trust” this way: assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. When we say that we trust that Christ can heal my wounds, it means that we have assurance that he has the strength and the ability to do so!

When we say that he has come to heal “all” my wounds, we mean the spiritual, physical, and emotional wounds of our lives. It is our spiritual wounds that are the most important, because they are the root of all other wounds. Remember in the Scripture how Jesus confounded the scribes with the case of the paralytic: He said: “Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven,’ or to say, ‘Rise and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic, “Rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home.” (Mt 9: 5).

We may want the Lord Jesus to only heal our physical or emotional ailments, but he came for a much greater healing—our full spiritual renewal in him so that we can once again share eternal life. He is indeed, the Divine Physician. Christ is also the “firstborn of all creation” and the “first born from the dead” (Col 1: 15, 18).

Lord Jesus Christ, I believe, help my unbelief! Let me trust more fully in your healing love and never be afraid to surrender my sins in thoughts, words and deeds to you for healing. I affirm that you have the power to heal me and that because of your passion, death and resurrection, I can rise with you to new life. Increase my trust so that I can live with you in
Creation, Presence, Memory, Mercy and Eternity.

They divide my garments among them,
and for my vesture they cast lots.
But you, O LORD, be not far from me;
O my help, hasten to aid me.

(Psalm 22: 19-20)
