The Affirmations

The process for Christ to transform my life into Sacred Story begins when I ask for the grace to honestly name my sins and addictions.

Opening our hearts to Christ is a choice only we can make. Christ wants us to open to his love principally as Creator who now is our Healer, Forgiver, Redeemer and Savior. This means we must bring to him those parts of our lives that need healing. These are the things from which only He can save us—our sins and sinful addictions—and death!

We must be ever-vigilant in this mission of opening to Christ. We must resist the fear that keeps us from honestly naming sin and addiction for what they are: sources of death and slavery. We must not be afraid of our sins and addictions. Christ Jesus is not afraid of them nor does he take offense at those who honestly turn to him for healing. He honors our courage by forgiving and strengthening us.

The Sunday after Easter has been very appropriately named Divine Mercy Sunday. The death and resurrection of Christ has unleashed upon the world the healing graces that can and will bring about the new heavens and the new earth (Is 65: 17; Rev 21: 1). Let us take courage and bring our sins and addictions to the Divine Physician who died so we might “have life… and have it more abundantly” (Jn 10: 10).

Lord Jesus Christ, with you by my side, give me the courage and grace to honestly look at my sins and addictions. Help me not to be afraid, for fear comes only from the enemy of my human nature. You love me and only want to heal me. Be my Divine Physician and flood your mercy in all my wounds so that in you I can be restored in
Creation, Presence, Memory, Mercy and Eternity.

The stone which the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone. By the LORD has this been done;
it is wonderful in our eyes. This is the day the LORD has made;
let us be glad and rejoice in it.
