Eternity

In the last two weeks we have looked at ETERNITY. We have pondered how it reveals life’s transience and how that helps us see each day as a spiritual event. This week we briefly reflect that a daily focus on ETERNITY keeps our heart focused on the One who is our source and our final end, God.

We had complete intimacy with God at our creation. We lived in a paradise of loving relationship with God, each other and creation. The tragedy of Original Sin is that it ended that perfect paradise of love, bringing grief, sickness and death into human history. ETERNITY is our reminder that Christ has come to restore what was lost, and open for us the path back to complete intimacy with God in the Kingdom to come.

Lord Jesus, ETERNITY with you and the Father is our promise and our hope. Help us to keep our minds and hearts focused on ETERNITY and our God who is
Creation, Presence, Memory, Mercy and Eternity.

Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices,
my body, too, abides in confidence
because you will not abandon my soul to the netherworld,
nor will you suffer your faithful one to undergo corruption.
You will show me the path to life,
fullness of joys in your presence,
the delights at your right hand forever.

(Psalm 16: 9-10, 11)
